Description

This image was my first light for my new wide field set up configured around the Rokinon 135 mm. I recently decided to give the 3D printed rokinon mounting rings with EAF a try from Agena Astro. Boy have I been impressed with the setup. In addition, I also added a second full size but less powerful mount in the Celestron AVX for my 135mm and eventual Askar FRA 400 set up that I have had on back order since September.

The goal for the this rig was to grab and go without any disassembly as compared to my CGX set up with my 9.25 edge and RASA 8.

This set up has been a blast so far and made the pairing with the ASI 294 MM incredible. With the 294 MM I used 1x1 bin 2.3 um pixel scale to get my pixel scale to 3.5"/pixel. This is a significant improvement from 4.63 bin 2x2 that I have used with the rokinon before with my 294 MC.  The detail and resolution obtained with a 135 mm lens is incredible, not to mention huge files size for each sub, 90 mb ish.

All this working in tandem with EAF using a gear system to focus the lens has been incredible. While still some coma on the edges, I am quite pleased even when pixel peeping. Not that it is perfect, but definitley take a look at the full size image.

The Heart Nebula, IC 1805 is a open cluster of stars surrounded by an mesmerizing hydrogen emission nebula in the constellation of the Cassiopeia. Located in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way, the nebula is a 7,500 light years from earth.

The  Soul Nebula, he soul nebula is a hydrogen emission nebula with several open clusters present in the constellation of Cassiopeia. Often paired with the heart nebula it is located 7,500 light years from earth.

***Initially I did not take the flats before I processed the image because I was too excited to see what it could look like.....lol. Took time to add the flats and re-edit the image. All I can say is WOW for how well this first try with the new rig and results turned out. I only cropped off the very edges of the image b/c stacking. Otherwise you can see how much improved the vignetting is and the min coma for F/2.8 is on the image.  I am definitely looking forward to more images with this set up.

With the wider field, I noticed two oxygen nebulas in the Upper Left region/corner. One is very bubble like and the other is more diffuse. I assume each to be a planetary nebula, but will need to investigate further.

Title: SHO with flats

Description: What a different flats can make. I only cropped 1-2% of the image for stacking / dithering variation. Just amazing how much vignetting resolved. Also, if you look at the corners, still some mild coma, but pretty incredible with the Rokinon stopped down to 2.8.
