Fuzzball in the sky?

With the right set of conditions, the Sun really comes alive in intricate detail.

In this image, the most noticeable chromospheric features are spicules and prominences. Spicules are the “furry fingers” rising up from the “surface” (or, more correctly, the photosphere below). The prominences are larger plumes of hydrogen plasma which appear to float off the edge of the sun into space. A large network can be seen here.
