Description

This nebula in Auriga was in a good position in my backyard on a night back in October, so I captured some data until it started entering the brighter part of the sky overhead. Its an interesting star forming region engulfed in a cocoon of dust. At its center is a small open cluster of recently formed stars that light up the central portion of the nebula. This is only a bit more than 30 minutes, of data, so the outer regions and the refection nebula are a bit faint. Another target I hope to capture more data on!

After stacking, I split the original RGB data from the camera into luminance and RGB data for color, and then processed them separately then recombined them for the final image her to better show subtle detail in the dust near the center of the nebula.

4 x 8 min live stacked images (each a live-stack of 320 x 1.5 second subs) = total 32min
