Description

I spent many nights in April imaging this system hoping to capture the tidal bridge of material between NGC 5216 and NGC 5218. Imagine what the night sky would look like if our Earth orbited a star in this bridge with 2 galaxies so close! Of course with my luck they would both be in the southern hemisphere...

I still find this amazing that I can image these galaxies in a bortle 8 sky with a telescope I bought in 1983 and a budget astro camera with a clear UV/IR filter.

It just blows my mind. Mind Blown.png

NGC 5216 is listed as magnitude 16.14 in  Stellarium. According to the Aperture Photometry script in PixInsight, there are stars down to an apparent magnitude 20.91 in this image (if I am interpreting the result correctly).
