Description

NGC 5907, a.k.a. the Splinter Galaxy, is an edge-on galaxy locates in the Constellation Draco. It's been famous among astronomers for its extended tidal stream wrapping around the galaxy, first presented by a group of astronomers back in 2006.

This is a collaborative project, with my equipment at West Texas Observatory & team effort with our dual-scope setup at DarkSkyNewMexico. Total of 85hrs of lum data is collected, together with 18hrs worth of RGB data for color. High expectation is set to reveal great amount of tidal stream, only to find out the signal is still pretty weak, and I didn't want to stress it out at the cost of a noisy output. Some point down the road I guess I'll re-visit and see if I can pull more out of it, or keep up on the integration.
