Description

My first moon mosaic. Unfortunately, that night it wasn't enough for a complete mosaic of the entire moon. Firstly, some sequences were too bad in terms of the correct exposure time and secondly, I "naturally" made mistakes when overlapping the image sections. In addition, the seeing was very changeable throughout the night. Nevertheless, I am pleased that it worked quite well with the five sequences used here. The seeing at this time and the recording quality allowed me to stack 800 frames out of 5000 frames each, which had a positive effect on the noise and the subsequent sharpening with Registax. The other recording data: A constant frame rate of 66 fps with a gain between 69 to 80 and an exposure time of 6.6 ms.

Stitching with ICE was a bit adventurous. I kept finding artifacts within the finished mosaic. After I had cut the single input images differently several times, the mosaic was finally ok. When working with ICE, you have to control the result very closely.

In the final editing of the finished mosaic, I only increased the contrast a little and removed artifacts in the black of space.

As always, I look forward to harsh and helpful criticism.
