Description

This image is one of my first completed projects with a newly acquired Esprit 100ED and the ASI2600MM-P mono camera. The nice optical quality of the scope plus the super QE of the ZWO camera resulted in my first true capture of the faint Soap Bubble (PNG75.5+1.7) seen near top center. Color scheme was HOO and was processed with PixInsight WBPP 2.1.1. Also used during processing was Adam Block's star reduction technique, where star halo masks are created with MultiscaleLinearTransform and PixelMath, subtracting a smaller star mask from the larger MLT mask. The halos are then filled in with nebula colors generated from a starless Starnet image again using PixelMath, thus reducing halo effects normally seen when just using MorphologicalTransformation to shrink star sizes.

So far I am impressed with this equipment combination and look forward to doing more nebula captures during this summer and fall seasons.
