Description

I did not intend on imaging this object. When I went outside I planned on imaging the sky around Sadyr. I did a select and slew on my mount to Sadyr. After the mount slewed I looked into the eyepiece and could see a bright star. I repositioned the star to where I wanted it in the field of view thinking it was Sadyr. I took two or three short exposure test images to adjust the focus. I began imaging. I noticed that I was not seeing a lot of nebulosity like I normally see when imaging this part of the sky. However there was moisture in the air and everything kept frosting over. After every three images I had to use a hair dryer to remove the moisture/frost off the lenses. I thought that might be the problem. When I finished imaging this object. I decided to image the Horsehead Nebula. I did a one star alignment and then a select and slew to the Horsehead Nebula. I took a couple of test images and there was no Horsehead in the images. I can always see the Horsehead in my test images. So this night I did select and slews to two different objects and the mount didn't put me on either object. I processed the image that I thought was the sky around Sadyr. However after processing it was obvious this was not where I thought I was. I did a plate solving on my image and disovered that the bright star was Deneb and not Sadyr. This is the first time that I've imaged Deneb.
