Description

I photographed NGC7380 during one summer night. The weather was quite wet and there were only 2 hours without the moon out. I decided to record using a green and a blue filter as long as it was dark to create a HGB image. I thought there was not enough time to record a full narrowband image. When the moon rises, I took subs with the Ha filter to combine the channels to a color image. I decided to reduce my standard exposure time for the color channels to 180s to not overexpose most stars. I am sre, that 180s are still too long for most of the stars.

It was really hard to calibrate the Ha subs. I always got corrected subs that were nearly dark and unusable. With the help of some users in the forum, we found out that my dark frames were problematic. So I had to rebuild my dark library and then everything works fine. I'd like to thank you all again for helping me with my image.

I really have to work on my image processing skills. I still have trouble to create realistic looking images. Also the star colors are not there. But this will take time. PI is incredible, but also hard to understand for a newbie.

I'm still happy with my results so far. They are by far not perfect but they keep me making progress with my astro photography.

Only about 3 hours of subs were used to create this image of the Wizard nebula. The other subs were blurry or filled with clouds or satellites.
