Description

This planetary nebula is located 2500 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros at a declination of -3 degrees.  It is a magnitude 18.4 PN which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 2 light years.

Like a number of PNe like Jones 1, this PN is dominant throughout in OIII, is roughly elliptical in shape, and has its strong signal in the 2 opposite rim segments of the long axis.

The progenitor star is visible as the tiny blue star at the center.
