Description

So this is how you'd get into the Moon core in a Jules Verne version of the "Voyage au centre de la Lune".... I must confess that I feel this image to resonate more with my photographic side than with the astrophotography one...the lit edges, the lightning, the long shadows and strong contrast reminds me more of classical B&W photography than good moon astrophotogray.... but this is precisely what I do like of Moon AP, that it allows me to play with framing, changing lights and shadows much more than deep sky objects.... meanwhile I am awaiting for everything to settle down (COVID measures, weather...., ) to be able to do deep sky AP under a dark starry sky!!! Meanwhile I will do as much lemonade I can with these lemons....

Total frames were 50000 at 130-140 fps. The corrector plate was a little foggy (ths of course was unintentional... I wandered how much contrast and detail took away...) Good seeing.

The processing followed has been: PIPP to stable and select 25% => Autostakkert (I kept 5% best frames of the 50000). Then Import into Lightrooom, B&H treatment, levels, gentle Topaz Sharpen AI and final noise reduction in Lightroom. Levels again to find a sweet spot (I hope) for the balance of blacks and lights. And there it was, the entrance to the Moon core (one crater is entrance and the other is exit!)

My best wishes for the 2021! Guillermo
