Description

Another test of stacking and processing data with Affinity Photo 1.9.

Overall it worked well. I am not that familiar with Affinity so the results are probably not as good as the program and data would allow. The contrast is a bit more stark than I would usually like and my lack of experience with masks in Affinity meant I didn't protect areas as well as I would like but these are due to my inexperience and not a failure of the software. I would say based on my usage of PS for post-processing for 15+ years that Affinity has all of the functions I ever used in PS and some more cool ones I'm learning about.

Overall very promising for someone who just wants to stack simple data sets and work in 32 bit space. I doubt I'll stop using Pixinsight for my bigger projects but for a quick look at data it was very easy and quick to use. I will definitely switch over from PS for my post-processing.

I imagine if someone is much more sophisticated in their use of PS than I am that there are areas Affinity doesn't do things the same or perhaps as well as PS but for most of us it is a capable alternative.
