A bright barred spiral in the constellation Leo, NGC 2903 is approximately 30Mly's distant. Discovered by William Herschel in 1784, he thought it was a double nebula and gave it two catalogue numbers. Now NGC 2905 designates a stellar knot in the northeast spiral arm.
