Description

The Eastern Veil Nebula (C33) is part of a supernova remnant called the “Cygnus Loop” in the constellation Cygnus. This nebula is approximately 2600 light-years away from Earth and measures about 100 light-years across. The star creating the supernova was 20 times larger than the Sun. The supernova was bright enough to be seen during the day when it was formed. The shockwave from the supernova is exciting the interstellar medium of the Eastern Veil Nebula, which is the generating the glow and beautiful colors.
