Description

NGC2371-2 (Dreyer double-numbered it as two separate objects, easy mistake to do at the EP) is a though cookies despite the nominal brightness, as imaging the two ansae is quite difficult unless you go deeper than you think would be needed. Attempted this one early on in 2006 (unguided), kept trying in 2007 (unguided, not good enough yet) and finally in 2008 go my acts sorted and went deeper with guided 5-min subs. Here is the end results.

I've seen this one with the 8" MN back in (the outskirt of) Berlin in 2001 and in my mind is always "Der BonBon Nebeln" or the Candy Nebula for its obvious appearance.
