Description

The great Orion Nebula, M 42 along with Running Man and a couple of very intense open clusters. This is presented as it would appear to a Bald Eagle, hence the tall format. For you and I, we don't have that kind of vision to be able to say one way or the other. For those in the southern hemisphere, you will have to stand on your head.

This is a continuation of my digging into year old data that I left unprocessed with the expectation that I would come back and gather more data. And I may do so if the weather clears.

I was just working out some kinks with my rig, had not set up guiding and clearly did not concentrate so much on focusing as per my M 31 effort. Orion is generally tree afflicted in my location, so I only got 15 X 80 sec subs on the target. At that, the 80 seconds completely burned out the Trapezium stars with my RASA 11. Such are the advantages and disadvantages of a very bright target.

I won't state any science type stuff about this, since it probably is the most presented object on this site. But it is a very spectacular star-forming region. There is a very good documentary that is part of a series called Cosmic Front on Curiosity Stream, titled The Orion Nebula. It is heavily weighted toward Hubble data, but highlights in particular the inner star-forming regions of M 42. It is this area where multiple nascent stars were discovered within images of proplyds, embedded protoplanetary disks and partially cleared protoplanetary disks with newly ignited stars. I want one of those telescopes!
