Description

Took advantage of a string of clear nights to work on the Rosette nebula. Gathered a total of about 20.5 hours of SHO and almost 90 minutes of RGB. Of the SHO,
15.5 hours was usable.
I Went for a traditional Hubble SHO palate.
Processed in PixInsight.

PixInsight processing:

Preprocessing done with WBPP for stacking, registration, weighting, integration, and cropping. The SHO masters had gradients handled with DBE and then were
Linear Fit to the SII channel. A light bit of linear noise reduction was applied before stretching with EZ soft stretch. The nonlinear masters were
combined into an SHO image using LRGB combination with Ha used as the Luminance channel. The correct magenta stars script was run and SCNR to remove the green.
A slight curve was applied to boost the saturation prior to star removal with starXterminator. A slight boost to saturation was applied to the starless image.
Color masks were generated with Bill Blanshan’s pixel math formulas.  Curves adjustments were made to boost the colors. The dark structure enhance script was
run prior to adding the RGB stars back into the image. A final noise reduction was applied.
