Description

Here's LDN 1158 and friends, a small collection of dark nebulae just NW of the Iris Nebula in Cepheus. This was my first use of an Optolong L-Pro filter for the luminance channel in LRGB. Need to learn much more about processing dark nebulae, but am quite happy with the L-Pro.

For next time I switched the Red Astrodon filter out of the carousel on the Red scope, which has the L-Pro in a filter drawer between the filter wheel and the camera, to the Gold scope's carousel. This will allow me to shoot all luminance [with the L-Pro] on the Red scope while I rotate through RGB on the Gold scope. For the next dark nebula target I will gather as much L data as all three color channels combined. The narrowband filter distribution remains the same, facilitating simultaneous Ha, OIII, and SII data collection using the scopes in tandem.

I also need to rotate one of the scopes in its rings just slightly to more precisely line up the FOVs. I had to crop perhaps 15% due to this issue. Pretty easy to do; just needs doing!
