Description

I imaged the Milky Way from the amazingly dark skies on the Hawaiian islands of Kauai and the Big Island at the end of July and beginning of August.

This is the fourth in a series of images from the Big Island where we stayed along the Kohala Coast on the northwestern part of the island looking out over the Pacific Ocean. The Milky Way and Jupiter as seen in this view to the South with the volcano Mauna Loa visible along the skyline.

Imaged using a Nikon D750 and Nikon 28-300 mm travel zoom at 28 mm and F/3.5. Exposure was 30 seconds at ISO-3200. Combined 11 subs using Sequator (freeze ground, auto brightness=ON, HDR=ON, LP reduction = ON). Light post-processing using PixInsight (histogram transformation).
