Description

This is the first, and flawed, image from my new 150PDS - basically just a test image as skies unexpectedly cleared last night. With the not so great British weather I've been finding I was missing a number of nights because the 250PDS needs a 100% clear and dry night for it to be worth setting it up. Probably more importantly it was difficult to take down in the middle of the night should conditions deteriorate. So I picked up a budget 150mm Newtonian which I can easily either cover or remove in the middle of the night. Last night was one of those nights and I had to remove the scope about 4am due to a huge volume of incoming rain so it's doing its job well already.

The scope has been modded - aperture mask for primary mirror and focus draw tube cut short but in the rush to test the scope I overtightened the primary mirror causing pinched optics which added to poor, rushed collimation. Both hopefully fixed this afternoon so that the scope is ready for more short notice imaging on nights that are not suitable to the 250PDS.

Update: I've compiled a list of modifications here - if I've missed any please let me know.  https://www.absolutelynothing.co.uk/blog/skywatcher-150pds-modifications/
