Description

This interesting face-on spiral galaxy in Cepheus is called the Fireworks Galaxy because of the great number of supernovae that have been observed in it.

The target was an "extra" that I decided to do after completing my recent elephant trunk picture. The forecast called for a clear night and I chose to do one last night of imaging before taking down my equipment. The short integration resulted in lots of noise and heavy gradients that were hard to overcome. I also noticed that my imaging train was sagging, resulting in bad peripheral optical aberrations. Oh well. It was still a fun image to do. Thanks for looking.
