Description

This Astrobin Debut Object  is a planetary nebula, one of the many PN in the Weinberger catalog.  It is located 19000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a declination of +66 degrees.  This magnitude 22 PN spans 30 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.

Of the more than 1000 PN listed in Martin Griffiths’ Planetary Nebulae book, this PN has by far the smallest magnitude.

Although OIII signal is present, the HII signal is dominant here.  The PN has a torus shape, with the outer edges being brightest in HII.  Like many PN, this one has a rough hexagon shape.
