Description

NGC 672, a symmetric barred spiral galaxy and IC1727, a more disturbed irregular galaxy are tidally interacting galaxies seen in the direction of the Constellation Triangulum at distance of 18 Million Light-Years. The two galaxies frame an interesting study of closely approaching medium sized, tidally interacting galaxies before having shredded each other into tidal streams. At a separation of only 88,000 light-years, little more than their diameters, they will eventually merge into one larger galaxy. The image was somewhat a difficult process owing mostly to RGB data taken under moist, unfavorable skies.
