      Description

It is not that often that I get to shoot broadband but we went for a family trip in a Bortle 1 zone near the alpine town of Bright in country Victoria, Australia and I had 4 clear nights in a row!

      About the target:

M78, also known as NGC 2068, is a reflection nebula in the constellation Orion. It also happens to be one of the brightest relfection nebula in our skies. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780 and included by Charles Messier in his catalog that same year.

      Processing:

I always prepare my images with pixinsight and then process them in Photoshop afterwards. This was also my first time implementing Blurxterminator into my process.

      My pre processing steps were:

LUM: DBE -> BXT -> Hyperbolic Strech -> NXT -> SXT
RGB: DBE -> RGB combine -> BXT -> Spectrophotometric Calibration -> Hyperbolic Strech -> NXT -> SXT (unscreen stars and get a separate RGB stars only image)

In photoshop I then applied selective colors and curves to the RGB image, used the starless LUM as a luminance layer with curves applied and then screened the RGB star image.

BXT essentially removed quite a few steps from my previous process which included deconvolution and local histogram equalization (or hi pass in photoshop).
