Description

This nebula - SH 2-142 - is closely associated with NGC 7380 which is an open cluster of young stars. The Flying Horse (aka Wizard) is an emission nebula illuminated by these stars. This system is about 9,700 light years away.

This image was taken through the William Optics GTF81 Triplet refractor onto an Atik 314L+ camera. Wind conditions were not good so only 5x600secs Ha and OIII and just 3x800secs SII were achieved - hence the noise etc. The resulting image is some sort of Hubble palette from the web!!
