Description

A lot has been written about these Wolf-Rayet stars which are fascinating objects discovered in the middle of the 19th century. Taking a picture of this region is a mandatory exercise for every astrophotographer.

As rain and bad weather make any attempt to get decent pictures hopeless in northern France, I processed this picture that I took more than three years ago. I still leave some old pictures unprocessed mainly for three reasons : lack of time, good opportunity for bad weather periods, and finally our processing skills improve with time, so sometimes you need to wait like for a good bottle of wine

Those who follow me know that I am not a big fan of strong contrasts and colour saturation. No offense here, every one has the right to push the cursors as he/she likes it

The main objective was to respect the flux of H and OIII photons, and not to try to get the whole OIII ring which would have been an insane attempt with my quite low exposition time in OIII (at the time I took the photo I was not aware about the ring). Also I tried to emphasize the nebulae transparency.

I just start to read a book from a french astrophysicist and writer David Elbaz about the role of the light in the emergence of complex structures like life in the universe, so I try to treat photons now with even more respect !
