Description

Comet Leonard and the Globular Cluster M3
This is a composite of 30 x 2-minute exposures.
Here you can see comet Leonard passing the beautiful cluster that contains a bit more than 500,000 stars and is about 33,900 light-years away. The age of the majority of stars is roughly 8 billion years old, as compared to 4.6 billion years of our sun. The comet is only about 40,000 miles from earth and is moving at a velocity of 37.6 miles/sec or 99,500 mph
I took this image between 5-6 AM, Friday, Dec 3 using the Orion EON130mm Refractor telescope.
