Description

This is cropped image taken in September 2022 with a new Canon EF50 f1.8 lens that I was eager to try out - conclusion is that while the centre comes out ok the edges are far from flat so the stars are elongated and look like plusses and have heavy chromatism.  I was not happy with results to be able to post in the past but decided today to give it another try by extracting a Starless and Starmap image using Starnet2 (also with StarXterminator).  In the end after process each, I used Pixelmath to blend the two back together and came up with something decent.

Conclusion the Canon EF50 f1.8 STM is only really useful in Astrophotography with heavy cropping or perhaps short subs.
