This time we present you a planetary Nebula rather unimagined which like almost all the objects of the Caldwell catalog are quite diffuse.

Abell 36 (PK 318+41.1)

The magnificent gaseous shroud of a dying solar star, the planetary nebula Abell 36, is only 800 light years from the constellation Virgo. At this distance, it extends over 1.5 light-years and has a low polygon magnitude 13. By raising its outer layers, the central star of the nebula contracts and becomes warmer, evolving into a final phase of a white dwarf. In fact, in Abell 36, it is estimated that the central star has a surface temperature of more than 73,000 K, compared to the current temperature of 6,000 K of the Sun. As a result, the intensely hot star is much brighter in ultraviolet light, compared to its visual appearance here. Invisible ultraviolet light ionizes the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in the nebula and finally feeds the beautiful glow of visible light

The morphokinematical analysis shows that Abell36 consists of an inner spheroid and two bright point-symmetric arcs.

The formation of Abell36 and DeHt2 requires several ejection events including collimated bipolar outflows that probably are younger than and have disrupted the main shell.
