Description

After a few unstable nights, the weather allowed me to realize this view of the planet Mars.

Hellas Planitia can be recognized under the South Pole (inverted image N/S) and opposite the magnificent Arabia Terra of ochre color, surrounded by Syrtis Mayor on the left and Meridani Planum on the right.

I was surprised, although normal for the Martian season, by the relatively rapid shrinkage of the Southern Polar Cap, made up of dry ice.

You can appreciate it by comparing it with my first image of Mars which dates from July 19 for the same region.

Technically, this is an L-IRGB image made from 5 videos of 2 minutes per channel (from 03:27 UT to 03:48 UT) or 21 minutes of derotation under WinJupos.

I processed 7000 images out of a total of 144,000.

The luminance layer was achieved by retaining 40% of the IR channel and then final treatment under WinJupos.
