Description

This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen through my telescope. This is NGC 1333, aka the Embryo Nebula. Located in the Perseus constellation about 1,000 light years away, NGC 1333 is a reflection nebula—that is, unlike an emission nebula, it doesn’t generate its own light and is only visible because of (1) hot stars nearby that light it up, and (2) dense gas and dust that obscures stars and other objects behind it.
