Description

The Pleiades Nebula, (a.k.a the Pleiades, the Seven Sisters, and Messier 45), is an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus about 444 light-years from Earth. The reflection nebula around the Pleiades star cluster is caused by dust reflecting the blue light of the hot, young stars. The Pleiades is the star clusters nearest to Earth as well as the nearest Messier object to Earth and is the most obvious star clusters to view by the naked eye in the winter night sky.
