Description

This object is a dim Low Surface Brightness (LSB) galaxy located 60 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of +16 degrees. This galaxy spans 5 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 85,000 light years.

This galaxy is classified as a super-thin galaxy, which means that its length-to-width ratio is greater than 10:1. I love super-thin galaxies – my Astrobin collection of them is here. I would love to see what these galaxies look like face-on.

I could not find any studies of this galaxy. Typical for these super-thin galaxies, dust lanes are visible along the centerline but little other detail is seen. No bulge is apparent in the central region.
