Description

These 3 objects are located in the constellation of Auriga at a declination of +36 degrees. 

At the top of the image is the bottom portion of the Sh2-235 nebula.  A wide shot showing these objects relative to Sh2-232 is shown here:

It is believed that Sh2-235A, Sh2-235B, and Sh2-235C are the same distance away as Sh2-235, which is about 4400 light years.  This puts the size of these 3 nebulae at about 1 light year each.

At one time, Sh2-235A (also known as PP40) was believed to be a planetary nebula.  Now, scientists have studied this region extensively and believe the 3 objects to each be young HII star forming regions.  These regions of emission and dust would be another interesting area to explore using IR tools.
