Description

An early morning Mars, still nearly 90 million miles away and only 9.8 arc sec in apparent diameter. Still, you can see the largest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mons. It is the small "pimple" to the upper right of the disk, just to the left of the shadow that still covers much of the planet. Mars will be at its closest this year in December.
