Description

We no longer present this magnificent Gulf of Iris (Sinus Iridum).

Remains of what was once a gigantic closed plain 260 km in diameter.

Only the western and northern paries of its enclosure, which today form the Jura chain (Montes Jura), interrupted by the Bianchini crater, have been preserved.

The two ends of this mountainous crescent are cape Heraclide and cape Laplace.

The arena, covered with lava, has some wrinkles and small craters.

It is interesting to image this region two to three days after the first quarter, at sunrise, in order to benefit from a light that gives the reliefs a more dramatic appearance.

Technically, as the field was deliberately expanded to shooting, the speed of the image frequency decreased significantly (34 fps instead of usually 60 to 80 fps).

Nevertheless, it seems to me, probably thanks to good weather conditions, that the image remains satisfactory.
