Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 250 million light years away in the constellation of Lynx at a declination of +34 degrees.  It spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 140,000 light years.

The galaxy disk shows unusual color and detail for an object that is 0.25 billion light years away.  Our view of the disk is halfway between edge-on and face-on.  The disk has a hexagon outline.  The arm structure seems disturbed, but I see no disturbance candidates nearby.
