Description

Crescent Nebula (a.k.a NGC6888) HOO+RGB stars

This Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus about 5000 light-years away from Earth. This nebula about 25 light-years crossing is a cosmic bubble that was created by the fast stellar wind colliding with the slowing and energizing wind ejected by a Wolf-Rayet (WR 136) star at about 250,000 ~ 400,000 years ago. The WR 136 is estimated to be around 4.7 million years old and is 600,000 times brighter than the Sun, 21 times more massive than Sun, and 5.1 times larger than Sun. Its appearance looks like the crescent, or a Euro sign(€).
