Description

LDN 1251 (Lynds’ Dark Nebula) is part of a molecular cloud structure in the constellation Cepheus. This dark structure and reflecting dust and gas is about 1,000 light-years away and drifting above the plane of our Milky Way galaxy. There are several distant galaxies behind the faint dust, the most prominent being PGC69472 on the left and PGC166755 on the right of the dark structure. On a stretch of several clear nights in October while on vacation I was able to capture this image. Here is my version of LDN 1251:
