Description

M31 is an object that's almost cliche in astrophotography circles, but everyone needs to have their own shot of it in their portfolio, if only to be able to answer "Yes!" to the question "Did you take THAT?" So I wanted to get back to Andromeda before it disappeared for the year. I had one night to get the data before a winter storm socked us in, and then the bright moon locked me out of LRGB imaging for a couple more weeks. The night was terribly windy, but very clear, and in spite of the surface wind, seeing wasn't too bad. The roll-off-roof building sheltered the telescope from enough of the wind that I was able to get this data. In addition to the wind, the wind chill was about -50F. The CCA250 performed beautifully in spite of it all.

Image acquired at Prairie Sky Observatory, a facility of Twin City Amateur Astronomers (tcaa.us).
