Description

M-60 (Mag. 9.8) is the third brightest galaxy in the Virgo cluster. It is a giant elliptical galaxy and is 54 million light years from Earth. Nearby NGC-4647 (Mag 12) is a type SAB spiral galaxy. It lies over 63 million light years from Earth, so it is not interacting with M-60.

However, Halton Arp included it as number 116 in his catalog of unusual interacting galaxies.
