This is part of the Corona Australis complex imaged with the ASA H8 f2.9 telescope at the Hakos Astro Farm in Namibia, part of the Sky Gems Network. The image was captured over three dark sky cycles between June and August. I was pretty strict and rejected all but the clearest of images so this turned out to be a much longer project than I expected it would be. I hope you agree that the result is worth the effort.

The Corona Australis constellation is one of the closest star forming regions to our Solar System, a mere 430 light years away. The dense clouds of gas are home to many protostars that are still gaining mass from the surrounding molecular cloud. The bright areas are reflection nebulae that are caused by very young stars reflecting their light off the nearby surrounding matter of their parent molecular cloud..

The globular cluster NGC6723 in the top left of the image is completely unrelated to Corona Australis. It is in fact much further away at 28,400 light years away vs 430. There are a few distant galaxies in the image that can spotted if you look closely enough.
