Description

Though merely for hardly an hour, the first lunar imaging session this month. Almost 400,000 km away, the 6 days old 29.5% illuminated moon posed 52º up in the western sky on the hypotenuse of a triangle consisting of Mars, the Pleiades and Aldebaran.

While the air was partially steady, thin clouds and humidity obstructed the view, yet this is my sharpest raw image ever taken with the C8. I swear, the only processing steps were crop and high-pass filter in PS, nothing else. It is centered on the Janssen family of craters.

The full view is a mosaic of 11 panels, each a stack of 300 of 2000 (8ms, gain 200) which isn't a lot but a great gain in terms of recording speed as clouds were coming about.

All images are in mono8 with 10-bit ADC, 1.5x drizzled (the full view is not drizzled).
