Description

This was captured at the GNTO in the early morning. I have been trying to capture the Lagoon for three seasons now. The first image I took of M8 was with a DLSR connected to my StarSense Telescope. I took 1400x1s shots unguided in October 2020 but didn't have much to show for it https://joeytroy.com/barn-door-or-bust/ as I was still learning how to process images without PixInisight. The second try was last year in June 2021 https://joeytroy.com/battery-time/ and I was able to capture some amazing Ha but it was only 3x500s that was cut short due to a wicked wind storm that sent us all home from the GNTO. Finally, after three seasons of waiting, I finally was able to capture the Lagoon. While only 54 minutes of data I feel I was able to show the subtle internal structure of the nebula by manipulating the oxygen colors and accenting the internal structure with the outer dark layer in Ha.
