Description

This is my last image for the year 2021.
It is a panorama composed of 9 panels.

On the fourth day after the first lunar quarter we can identify several striking elements in this vast region.
Gassendi is a large lunar crater located north of the circular lunar sea Mare Humorum. It was flooded by lava during the formation of this sea, so that only the northern rampart and the multiple peaks remain visible above the surface.
This is also the case at the other end of Mare Humorum, for Doppelmayer, but almost totally for its right neighbor Puiseux.
To the left of the image a mountainous area is plunged into darkness, it houses the main crater Mersenius. Wide grooves between him and Gassendi bear his name, Rimae Mersenius.
