This was my very first galaxy image and the L-plates are out for all to see. I tried very hard to treat the collected photons with respect - after all, they did take ~15 million years to hit my sensor. I've really struggled to process though, but finally managed a (sort of) acceptable attempt that I at least can put out there and beg for constructive comment. This was a PixInsight trial (and error) for me; I could not for the life of me get Photoshop to do anything but butcher the data. And Mr. Blobby has left his trade mark on the more prominent stars.....
I think for now, it's back to nebulae for me to try and develop some technique on more forgiving targets.... But every attempt is a learning experience ;-)
The revision incorporates suggestions from @Lee who suggested binning my data 2x before reprocessing and combines an additional ~5 hours of data that Marc (
[email protected]) shot and we swapped.
I think the result speaks for itself!
