Description

As we know, Virgo is a busy place for galaxies. So busy that finding ones way around visually can be a real challenge!

This is an image of Virgo, with Markarian's chain in wide field. This is two versions of the same image. One is without annotation, the other with manual annotation, listing many of the easily observed galaxies in Virgo.

Click on the annotated version to see all these labelled galaxies in high resolution.

Many thanks to Alan Simpson of The Sky Searchers website for taking the time and incredible attention to details to annotate this image. He used Sky Tools 3 and Paint 3D to do this. I am posting it as a resource for visual and AP folks like myself who would like a quick guide around this very busy part of the sky.

I hope you enjoy these images.

Description: I dug into my hard drive, grabbed the original lights and used a better set of flats, darks and bias to stack. I fixed the gradient in PS. Also I left out all the annotation for this version.
