Description

Centaurus A (also known as NGC 5128 or Caldwell 77) is a galaxy in the constellation of Centaurus. It is about 10-16 million lightyears from Earth and is the fifth brightest galaxy in the sky although only visible from low northern latitudes or the souther hemisphere (lucky me). The center of the galaxy contains a supermassive black hole with a mass of 55 million solar masses.

This target does not really suit my telescope, it being a wide-field refractor. However when my primary subject (https://www.astrobin.com/69bcjl) for the night fell below an obstruction I switched to this just to see how it turned out. Kept imaging as it was such a nice night and I could make out a surprising amount of detail in a single 60" sub.
