Description

Final Milky Way of this year from me. Decided to combine my last two images to create this mosaic. Spans a 100 degrees from near galactic center to the extremities. Seeing the result, I now wish I had planned this out better that night. Oh well, there's always next year and my new Rokinon lens to help.

It's wonderful to see the popular nebulae from the Lagoon/Trifid all the way to the Veil/NorthAmerica in the context of the larger sky—and Jupiter making a guest appearance near the dark horse's front hoof.

The mosiac is unfortunately not platesolved via astrobin due to the distortions introduced by mosaicing wide field images. I was able to platesolve directly on astrometry. Solved image here .
