Description

M45, The Pleiades, also known as Subaru or 'Seven sisters'. I took this image from my garden a few weeks ago, with a 5hr total exposure and the digital camera in prime focus on the 72mm aperture refracting telescope. You can see Pleiades with your naked eye and you should be able to count the seven sister stars if your eyesight is ok surrounded by a white glowing "cloud" near to Taurus and the orange star Aldebaran in the night sky. The Blue-white "cloud" is actually interstellar dust in front and is illuminated by the young blue-hot star cluster behind it. The Pleiades is a fantastic object to look with binoculars at when we next get clear skies, go take a look.
